We break the concept that a game must be designed only from market perspective. A game can be designed from the most craziest dream of an individual or group of people. Both sytles of development can live pacefully together.

Something fresh for the summertime

For this title I was looking for a game idea easy to learn. In my mind was the idea of a waterfall, the idea of a game like a river that carry the player without almost any effort from the player. Now you can check the result, enjoy playing Falling Angels.

I really want to thank Adrian Jackson for the awesome work done with the art of the title. Go to his site and enjoy.

Finally, I want to thank the nomination of Desarrollador_ES for Sun Stories 2: Drawing Rage as one of the best Flash games of the last year.

Feedback from close friends

As a game developers we know how critical is the feedback of the users to improve the game's quality, but getting feedback from the close friends and family is totally biased. They just try to be polite because you are in front of them putting over them a pressure when you asking them about criticize the game. But from time to time they don't fear to tell you the truth. This has been the case of the game Poetry. Initially, It was lack of fun, but thanks a friend that told me that it became repetitive after few sentences and suggested a new direction that would make more dynamic the game. This idea was to allow the game to change the mini-game in each sentence complete, much in the WarioWare style. So thanks to this feedback, it's really interesting, it is not as much crazy as WarioWare, because in this game is necessary to thing a little bit more before act.

Poetry: Poems and Games

It's always interesting but also risky to explore new kinds gameplay. In this case I came up with the idea to mix to opposite worlds the games and the poems. Through 9 mini-games you will be challenged to reconstruct the poems. Finally, I wanted to explore the community and with the game you would be able to create and share with the world your own creations. So be free to play and enjoy the experiment.

Academics begin to take seriously videogames

While I'm still working in my next game project, it's nice to see that things are moving slowing for better in the recognition of the videogames as a serious career (I know that in United States, it is a long time that they are taking it seriously, but not in my country). Recently, the university UAB, where I did my studies, made a sessions about the gaming world. They invited great people who has changed the world with his work in the videogames, Chris Deering and Alexey Pazhitnov enjoyed about wonderful hospitality of my university. Read more details here.

Bombing Merry Christmas!

First of all, Merry Christmas and I invite you to play the last crazy idea Bomber Santa.

Second, let me share some thoughts with you, because it has been a pretty interesting year. It has been really wonderful to have the chance to develop my own crazy game ideas, some of them were successful, some of them not, but always I loved to developed it. I've been always trying to offer different gameplays, experimenting with the game controls, but always with the goal to give an interesting game experience to the player.

COMMUNITY

Other of the reason I love the Flash game community is for its direct feedback between author and players, many game communities are appearing that let this instant communication, lovely worked reviews or destroyer unfair reviews are always welcomed, because I can get information of every player post, even if they barely have played the game. Some communities to consider Newgrounds, Kongregate, ArmorGames, there are more just enjoy looking for them.

AUTHORSHIP

Other thing we must thing about is about the authorship of the work done, I think that Flash game development is one of the best game fields that respect the authorship of the game developer. Now that the big game development companies want to hide the work of the individuals behind their corporative logo, the indie game development comes to rescue these great workers to offer the chance to get the recognition deserved. I would like that you keep an eye to these great artists and enjoy of his awesome work:
warnockworld, warm-chang, kenney, the-super-flash-bros,
jmtb02, adamschroeder, eggy, regulargabs, hazard-productions, kostea, lennyezone, pimpofpixels, mateusz-skutnik, krystman, trickysheep

FLASH GAME DEVELOPER ORGANIZATION

Also this year has begun some interesting proposals for the organization of the Flash game developers, because actually it's still pretty hard to get earnings from our work, since the games can be hugely spread around the gaming webs and the small independent game developers don't get anything from the website traffic that this gaming sites has for hosting the our games. Everybody must begin to understand that game developers don't live from air and that if we want to grow as a gaming field, we must try to respect a little more the game developers.

Playing with physics

One of the last times I really played a RPG game was Dark Chronicle, the game is good, maybe a little too repetitive in some fields. The dungeons of this game were really impressive since the maps were randomly generated. Sometimes, when you finished a dungeon, you have the chance to play a kind of weird golf game inside the dungeon level, it was a cool idea and most of the times I played the dungeon levels with the goal of play the golf game. I was really sorry that this golf game won't be an extra independent game to unlock in the game. I have done Closing Dimensions like a tribute to this weird golf experience. Enjoy!

Bonus Track: Wii and Highscore

While I was developing SunStories2, I was worried
about the long loading time because each song must be loaded externally from NewGrounds audio resources, so I thought about an small game while loading. The goal of the game is to help the Sun to get the stars by drawing rays in which the Sun will slide. SUN GROW is this bonus game as an independent small game. Also I programmed two new features that I was interested to do: Wii compatibility and a highscore table to record the scores done.

Internet Radio Taste

This post is to recommend a great internet radio RootDown FM. Since it's not a mainstream radio it's hardly known by the people. Maybe it wouldn't be of your taste for a lot of you, but they have a really true unique style. At least, you can taste it for some days free, maybe you will find here the real love for the music... who knows ;)

Bad Experiment: Planet Earth

With this title I have chosen the easy way, choose a well defined game genre and mix previous game concepts made in the game history (search for Rampage). This game has a lot of action and if you like the game genre you will get instant fun.

The inspiration of this game was to critic the behaviour of the human to destroy a lot of wonderful nature landscape without thinking about the long term consequences.

Cell Defender, trying to destroy game genres

I thought this weird game experiment some years ago when some of my friends told me to do something more classical, that it could fit inside a well defined game genre like platform, shooter, ... Oh, man, I really love this world, everyday all the media told us what to do, what to say, what to like, what is good and what is bad, we are really well trained, so when you try to suggest something really new you are almost condemned to fail. But I also must recognize that it's also a stable good model, so I understand that the developers rely that people will keep buying well solid and defined game genres and they could be frightened that people can give up the "real" games to test new game experiences.
